Say what you will about astrology and the power of the stars and the accuracy of natal horoscopes. However I say, as of about an hour before making this post, that there must be something to it, and February 5th must be the Day of Weirdos I Wouldn’t Want to Bring Home to Mother. The universe gave birth to William S. Burroughs on this day in 1914 and he went on to become the world’s most beloved queer junkie weirdo whose droning voice blessed all kinds of things, and his addled words made poetry that became dear to people into that kind of thing. Meanwhile, in 1940, a baby by the name of HR Giger plopped out into the world and immediately began drawing demented things that became interwoven into certain pieces of pop culture, most importantly those Alien movies.

We have decided to celebrate these twin souls separated by a few decades, these angels who we assume didn’t know each other and never met, by creating a portrait of the wordy one in the style of the drawy one. Happy birthday, the two of you, we hope there really is an afterlife so that the two of you can sit down together and make friends and maybe make some other ghosts feel uncomfortable somehow.

August is Read a Romance Novel Month so we thought we’d sneak this one in right at the end!

Sneer Publishing is just around the corner, along with our other thousand new daily ideas. SP will debut with a box set of our first five romance novels that we’ll unleash to the world in a storm of paper and marketing. The box set will be limited edition, of course, with embossed covers and gilded page edges.

We won’t give too much away though, because we expect you to buy them at the full price of $749.99 for the set.

I talk about my sister often on Sneer Campaign. She’s pretty great! And if you memorize every word we say, you’ll remember that she’s a veterinarian and has two beautiful, big-headed, cuddly pit bulls. If you didn’t know, pit bull is pretty much an umbrella term, often also referred to as “bully breeds” and carries a lot of weight with it. (The weight is mostly in their giant silly heads.)

Tembo and Laika are two of the best dogs that anyone could hope for. Both were rescued and adopted into my sister’s loving, happy home. They’re as close as my sister and I were as kids. We still are, but maybe not as adorably.

There are many kinds of mysteries in this confusing, mixed up world. We often find ourselves trapped in darkness, trying to solve a murder case, maybe, or seeking to understand what on the surface appears to be a supernatural phenomenon. Whole civilizations have been lost and we still don’t know why. Statues may weep tears of blood, drawing crowds of thousands of hopeful people, yearning to see a miracle.

Some mysteries are on a much smaller scale, but are no less perplexing and miraculous. Some mysteries appear on your own body! A mystery appeared on mine.

When you’re buying a wine, it’s probably easy enough to get a sort of general recommendation for which wine might go well with a certain kind of dinner. That is… if you’re eating something relatively normal for dinner, or something wine is commonly thought to go with.

But some of us don’t just eat pasta Bolognese and mushroom risotto, wine sites! Some of us eat the glorious American tradition that is fast food, and some of us want a complementary wine to drink while we eat that fast food.

I am not going to mention specific wines, because it’s unlikely that readers could find them across the United States, and even less likely they’d find them around the world. But I will describe the perfect kinds of wines for these foods, based on my 100% expert opinion as someone who hardly drinks wine, but never does not eat fast food.

What is to be done when your two best buds share a birthday? You plan a party for them to share, whether they want to or not, of course! This is what happens up in VIP Heaven every single day. All the glorious divas and class acts and famous historical figures continually share the spotlight (which actually might be VIP Hell, now that I think of it) with their birthday brothers and sisters. But you know that Mae West would be able to make the most of it.

I have drawn her engaging in a dance and typical maewestian banter with my noble ancestor, David Crockett.

Happy Birthday to these superstar icons!

Amandoll likes to make comics based on real conversations she has. She has kind of a backlog set up, so this is just one out of a hundred. Some day, you’ll grow to love all of the characters. Here, she and Chris interact and a new facet of their personalities is revealed. Their personality? Shared personality? Gross, probably.
