Investing in the Future: Starring Doofus and Darling

Welcome back to our monthly comic series, Doofus and Darling. If you had Highlights for Children magazine when you were young, you’ve seen Goofus and Gallant. If not, it probably doesn’t matter anyway.

A square comic titled Doofus and Darling along the top. The panel is divided in two.

On the left, a comically short girl with glasses and long fluffy hair signs a money paper and is surrounded by symbols of wealth like the "stocks chart" arrow going up, up, up! The caption under this drawing says: "Doofus' understanding of investment and finance is increasing rapidly."

On the right, a girl with a striped shirt and an asymmetrical hairdo raises her arms in victory as her little purse surprises her with five dollar bills of indeterminate amounts. She has a thought bubble where she exchanges the money for food with a fast food worker. This caption reads, "Darling's understanding of investment and finance is limited to the cost of burritos.
