Thunder Wonder and Frightening Jolts: Starring Doofus and Darling

Welcome back to our monthly comic series, Doofus and Darling. If you had Highlights for Children magazine when you were young, you’ve seen Goofus and Gallant. If not, it probably doesn’t matter anyway.

A Doofus and Darling comic. In the left panel, the words say, "Darling enjoys thunderstorms and has been known to go out walking during them." The image is of a fierce storm raging while Darling walks through puddles in the rain, arms raised in delight, unmindful of the lightning. In the right panel, the words say, "Doofus is very afraid of any thunder." The drawing shows her in bed, sitting up, wrapped fully in her comforter. She has a tear drop and is in obvious fear. Haircut the cat lies next to her, asleep and calm. Through the crack in the curtains, you can see a storm through the window.
